Founded in 1997, this volunteer animal rescue group is a government registered charity recognised by the UK's RSPCA. It has an office in the road behind the Watermill Hotel in Girne and a Charity Shop [open 9-3 Mon-Fri and 9.30-12.30 on Sat] near Girne Fire Station and Post Office. The Charity runs an Animal Rescue Centre [open 9-1 daily] outside the village of Arapkoy on the mountain road out of Girne on the way to Ercan Airport and on to Famagusta that welcomes visitors. There are ongoing 'neuter and return' projects for dogs and cats. News on the group's ongoing fundraising activities can be found on both their website and in the weekly 'Cyprus Today'. Volunteers and visitors are actively encouraged as are animal sponsors and memberships to KAR.
