Please be aware of Cyber Crime. There have been cases of emails between lawyers and clients being intercepted and the legitimate bank details for the lawyer’s account being substituted with those belonging to the fraudsters.
In light of this, we would like to remind all clients to exercise vigilance in checking their emails, in particular please check the email address, recipients and content/format of the message.
All genuine emails sent from Naomi Mehmet & Partners will be sent from our domain (i.e. [name]@nmplegal.com), directly to the recipient’s email address (i.e. not sent to ‘undisclosed recipients’) and will be addressed to the recipient personally (i.e. not addressed to ‘sir/madam’).
Furthermore, any funds we request should only be transferred to our client trust account at Garanti Bank in the TRNC. If you receive any unusual or suspicious emails, or any messages requesting that funds be transferred to any other account, please do not reply to the email and contact us immediately by telephone on (009) 0392 816 0440. Please be aware that fraudulent emails may contain false telephone numbers. Always verify any telephone numbers given in any emails before calling.
We recommend that you telephone the office to confirm the bank account details with us over the telephone BEFORE transferring any funds. Naomi Mehmet & Partners will not take any responsibility in the event that you transfer the funds to an incorrect account.
